Celebrating life

Against the grain

Sails exuberant
As stormy day brews.
Turning anti-clockwise
Seizing the wind.
Sadly now redundant
As six millstones sit idly by.

Herne Windmill was built in 1789 by miller Job Lawrance on a site that has had a mill for over 600 years. It was still used for milling cereal grains until the turn of the 19th century and then animal feed until 1952.

Didn't have much time to take pictures earlier - as you can see from this blip it was raining, too - and it's foul out there now, so played around with this a bit and decided 'what the hell'.
