Last day . . .

Bodkin and I had so much to squeeze into our last day at Wool Week, but we just about managed!  A visit to Jamieson and Smith's to buy a knitting belt, then a look round Da Bod of Gremista where there were lots of things to see, admire and aspire to being able to make!  We each did a couple of rows on Da Muckle Gravit - a scarf which was cast on in 2004 and is now over 40 metres in length!

Back to The Hub for lunch, a sit down, a bit of knitting and a bit of a tour round the museum collection of heritage Shetland knitwear, wonderful Fair Isle patterns and fine, delicate lace.  Chatting to a fascinating woman from Newfoundland and two Italian girls who were making Tattit Rugs, a variation on rag rugs, and an American who was making bracelets from the tiniest of beads, in traditional Fair Isle patterns.  So much going on, so many talents!

Tea with Bodkin's three grandchildren, who were very entertaining, especially the three year old, then off to our final classes.  While Bodkin learnt about all sorts of different types of ribbing, I was "painting with wool", blending different colours and knitting them up - see extra.  A lot to take in after a busy day, we agreed that we were just about saturated with ideas and inspiration!  Much as I would love for it to be Wool Fortnight, a week is long enough for the brain to cope with!

Stayed at Ms Gable's overnight.  G poured us each a G&T and then went to bed and left us to chat about wool, knitting, blip, life etc until late into the evening.  It was lovely to have such a good catch up.  The perfect end to the day.
