Boundary matters?

These street names are in Carlisle, a northern city a few miles south of the border between Scotland and England. The border though was never here although it did once pass through the (now English)  town of Berwick on Tweed on the eastern side of England, the town was variously in England then Scotland 18 times in all depending on the military fortunes of the two countries.
