Lesser Black-backed Gull ...

... on The Long Water (see the map) in Kensington Gardens, London, not far south of Lancaster Gate (we're looking east).  The image suffers from the inevitable overexposure of the gull's breast in the dazzling sun of a wonderful day. We had arranged to meet our friends Jane and Marty at the Gate at 10:30, but we met ahead of time when we sat down beside them on the way in a Central Line train--entirely by chance!  We took an extended walk to the other side of the Gardens, exiting on Kensington High Street, where we had lunch.  In the afternoon I watched much of last day of golf's Ryder Cup (at a "Sports Bar" in West Kensingon); the Americans lost decisively to the Europeans, 17 1/2 to 10 1/2--not unexpected, but disappointing nonetheless. At least I had a very friendly conversation with the Brits nearby.
