Beijing Day 3

Today started with a half day of conference with our spouses which again was excellent and quite meaningful.  We were explained, from what I understood, the evolution of business practices, from the time when business first began, to where the FD/CFO Centre are and want to be.  All very interesting and lots of think about.

Then we had a session where we simply had to acknowledge the person who was next to us and then our spouses.  First receiving acknowledgement and then giving.  Needless to say there were many tissues used ...

The idea is that for the CFOs to be effective with their clients, they need to be in a good place with their spouses and that happens with openness and communication.  When that aspect of life is positive, it allows you to be "present" in every other aspect of relationships.  That's what I understood anyway.  We'll keep trying ....

The wives then had another visit arranged to a tourist attraction, this time to The Summer Palace.

The lady in my main picture was kind to pose for me, and I think is probably my favourite picture from this trip.  The extras are the wives that were at this trip and the marble boat in the lake.

Our family have been to the Summer Palace before in winter many years ago, so it was good to see it in summer so to speak, and feel how cool it was there.  This was usually where the emperor and his family escaped to in the summer to get out of the heat of the city.

Dinner was at the famous Da Dong Beijing Duck restaurant which was the main reason I came on this trip.

First we walked through the famous street that has all the 'weird' stuff you can eat, Wangfujing area.  Some of the stuff really made me squirm, see extras ... there's even tarantulas there!!!

Anyway, on to Da Dong ... I remember the duck being a lot tastier ... once again too much food was ordered and again some weren't adventurous enough and therefore much wastage :(.   And I can really only eat so much!!!!  Walked back through Wangfujing street and some of the group actually were brave enough to eat scorpions!!!!! Martin was horrified.

All in all, a very nice day with the CFO Centre family.
