When Fergus had Two walks

At last a better day. We went to Glen Nevis to try the River Nevis short walk. 2.75 miles, with an ascent of 77 metres (250 ft). This easy walk explores Lower Glen Nevis, following the river bank and returning through the forest. It starts from the Visitor Centre (although we extended it by starting and finishing at the Braveheart car Park), crossing the new footbridge and goes along the riverside on a great path which is wheelchair accessible. Along the way there are a few strategically placed posts with a magnifying lens suspended in the top so leaves and small stones and other interesting little things can be seen up close.

When the walk reaches the Youth Hostel it crosses the river and the road and heads up a slope to take a path which runs parallel to the West Highland Way/Dun Deardail path and joins them a little further downhill. A straight downhill walk from there goes back to the Braveheart car park.

We stopped at the new(ish) M&S food to get some lunch which we had at the Neptune's staircase car park at the Caledonian canal. Then we had a walk along the towpath.
