Jamestown and Arlington

Another busy day - full of fun . . . . we drove down to Jamestown, the place where the first English landed in 1607.  The settlement is under going a lot of archaeological digging and it is amazing to see what is being learned. There is a lovely statue of Pocohontas who lived near here and one of General John Smith the first Governor of the area. He chartered this area really well.
On the way home we stopped off at Arlington Cemetery - such a magnificent place; so moving; so sad. Such a waste of young lives but a beautiful resting place.
