through His eyes.

Dear Teyen,

Good job! Congrats! You did it! You just pushed out a tiny human!

You are now officially a mother.

I know you're exhausted right now, but hear me out, because... your life is going to be so, so different now.

He is going to turn your world upside down.

First, your body. It will still be in pain two months, three, six, even a year after giving birth. Your joints, that right hip and lower back. Yep.

But you will also be amazed at how strong it is. Despite all the pain, you will be holding and feeding and cleaning and rocking this baby as he grows. And his little smiles and cooing will make you forget all the pain. Trust me.

Second, your social life. This one... Will be the most hurtful one emotionally. Given you just moved to a place that's an hour away from everyone and also in the middle of nowhere... you are going to lose friends. You are going to be more alone than ever. And you will suddenly feel like you're unable to relate to a lot of people now.

But.

You will make new friends. Rekindle old ones. And also find out who your real friends are.

So it's going to be okay.

Give yourself time to mourn when you lose those friendships. It's okay. Really. Go ahead.

Third, yourself.

You are going to be in so many battles with yourself. Mom guilt, wife guilt.

Loving your new body and new identity.

You will also be so sleep deprived, that when you are finally seeing friends, you're gonna see how socially awkward you have gotten and then butcher yourself over that.

It's. Okay.

Laugh it off. Go nap.

You are doing the best you can.

Oh, and your husband?

You will fight.

But you both will find yourself laughing about it days, weeks, maybe even months later.
Because you guys will realize you probably just fought over who didn't warm the milk enough, or slammed the door too hard and woke the baby up.

And he will still love you the same after all of it.

This one year is going to be the hardest year ever, but it is going to be the most rewarding one.

You prayed to learn more about patience? Humbleness? Kindness?
Don't worry. This baby is the whole package.

Never really troubled yourself about some world issues?
Don't worry. You're gonna be so on fire to make sure he gets to live in a loving world that you might not be able to sleep at night.

You're gonna do great.

I believe in you.

A year from now, not only will you be sleeping more, seeing friends more, spending more time with your hubby and eating more,

You will also be getting so many hugs from this little guy that you can't even keep track.
So many kisses and laughs and tickles and cuddles and

Love.

Welcome to motherhood, Teyen.

You're gonna do great.

Love,

Teyen
