Lyme Regis

We had a misty drive west on our way to Lyme Regis. The lovely summery weather that has been with us all week deserted us today.
We spent a couple of hours in the quaint seaside town of Lyme Regis, famous for fossil discoveries, depicted artistically on the lamp standards. We parked at the Cobb end of the town and I enjoyed a good walk back to the centre while Normous had a coffee. Three extras of Lyme Regis.
I am so lucky that Normous is happy to drive all day, and today we pottered around the tiny Dorset and Devon lanes, using old Ordnance Survey maps that show every detail, phone boxes, churches, power lines etc. We found isolated farms and pretty villages with thatched cottages, so typical.
I enjoy the navigating, and Sat Nav has had a rest today, but there was confusion at times when a brand new by-pass appeared that wasn't on my map. We have a saying that we are not on holiday until there is grass growing down the middle of the road. We were definitely on holiday today!
