Put the Kettle On

Tonight was the last classic car and bike night at Kineton's social club, and the only one I have managed to get to this year :-(

A beautiful warm, sunny early evening for it though and there were plenty of wonderfully restored classics on display ... like this Suzuki  GT750 water-cooled triple two stroke.  (Mid 70s motorcycle)

Stop reading now unless you like prog rock and are old enough to have read Motor Cycle Mechanics in the back of music classes ...

When I was a lad, I lusted after a  750 GT  ... more of a sophisticated tourer (Emerson Lake & Palmer)  than the live fast die young (Motorhead) Kawasaki 750 I blipped last time (see the extras)

The Suzuki was often referred to as the kettle - possibly unfairly as Scott had made water cooled two strokes in the 1930s and most bikes are water cooled now. Like all two stroke triples it makes a wonderful high pitched whine as it runs up through the gears ... 0-60 in 5.9 seconds,  for all it's lighter faster harder looks the Kawasaki could get there only 0.1s quicker.  It would have been more comfortable too on a whizz round the Cotswolds with the young lady who also liked to read MCM in the back of music classes :-)
