hang in there my stealth dyslexic

Zachary has never been officially diagnosed as Dyslexic as he is an advanced reader and high achieving at maths, instead he is what they call a stealth dyslexic - as he comes in under the radar.

He managed fine at Primary School even though he had real difficulties in handwriting and spelling but now that he is secondary school and they no longer attribute any deficiencies to immaturity it is very obvious.

All well and good as I know his other strengths, his perception and his incredible way of thinking will see him OK in the end BUT when you are faced with a weekly spelling test of 20 tricky words and are being reprimanded for not copying down work off the blackboard quick enough - it's tough going for a kid who is trying his best...

I so feel for kids when they don't fit the educational 'system' as is expected.

Luckily the world after this period is more accepting...as I keep telling him.
