No 201: Stone Curlew

Yes, it's a rubbish shot, but there are 3 of these very illusive birds in this shot, and it was a completely unexpected sighting. We had gone up to Westleton Heath in the hope of seeing the Red Deer rut. We certainly heard them bellowing, but got no worthwhile sights. Two kind gentlemen pointed out a Stone Curlew in the distance and said there were two more around. On our way back to the car we spotted a small open area with 8 birds in it - still quite a way off in the fading light. I had no other shots for today so I did not have to make a decision.
