Time to go

We've been very spoilt by the weather so today's has been a bit of a shock. We had hoped to have a long stroll over the moors but I'm afraid the heavy mizzle was so discouraging ...

Instead we drove down to Benningbrough Hall just outside York. The house was one of Georgian elegance and is run by the National Trust in association with the National Portrait Gallery. The current exhibition is themed around women who have influenced various art forms, from the earliest female painter in the 1660s through to Amy Winehouse, and Dames Dench, Bussell and Mirren... There was also an exhibition discussing the point(s) of various portraits which was so interesting; faces tell so much ... but the other subtle stories are there to be read too.

An evening in Hull with LH's family.
