Coreopsis

I can assure you. This ISN'T any kind of emergency blip. There's a ribbon of yellow by the side of busy roadways here in the Blue Mountains. They are coreopsis flowers and they are everywhere at this time of year.

I was walking along and became transfixed by their collective beauty - particularly as backlit by the afternoon sun. I just had to get some pictures. Unfortunately this is one of those times when the captured image simply doesn't measure up to the reality.
