Italian plum

I bought a kilo of these at my wonderful greengrocer, Clifton Greens in Maida Vale.

I love the purple bloom on the skin and the beautiful peach coloured flesh.

To my delight they have a crisp texture, complex flavour and have the right balance of sweetness.

We didn't see any in Puglia, but then it's the end of their season and their sisters are destined for the prune factory.
