Townend

Took Sis in Law V for a tour of  Townend a farmhouse in Troutbeck that was in the same family from the 1600s until 1940 when the farmer had 3 daughters, none of whom married and the farm ended up being given to the Govenment in death duty. The Government gave it to the National Trust including its 800 acres of land. The farmhouse is famous for it's wooden built in furniture made by the last farmer  - this could be the earliest fitted kitchen in the country.   External view of the house in extras.  We followed the tour with lunch in the Mortal Man pub. Mr P walked up a few more Wainwrights with his brother.
