Taking each day as it comes

At the beginning of August Kirk stopped eating and so rushed to the vet, we thought routine dental as it had been a while. But it turned out to be more of a mystery. Some dental spurs but more worryingly a lump in his tummy that the vet just wasn't sure if it was compaction or something more.

We made the decision to treat the dental as the medication would also treat impact. But the vet felt that it really didnt feel quite right for compaction so while he was under scans were done and bloods taken.

The scans showed a mass and were inconclusive, blood test showed that there is something going on but really the only way to know for sure would be to operate. The vet and i agreed that it wasn't worth the risk esp after just having a general.

And so Kirk came home, but he was slow to start eating again, he was eating but barely anything, we tried syringe feeding, we were giving pain relief and gut stimulants and yet he still lost more weight. I discussed it with the vet and decided to withdraw treatment as i felt that it was making him stressed and honestly i thought i was just making him comfortable to then make the ultimate decision in a few more days. but he started eating and bit by bit his attitude returned and suddenly he was running around happy again.

We know its just a matter of time, but that time isn't today.
