Thames barges

We have come down to East Anglia for a few days break.
Good journey and not too busy.

First stop was Maldon.
The last time we were here four years ago, it was to have a trip out on one of these magnificent old Thames Barges.
We had good weather then, and today has been good too.If a little cooler.

As we walked along the estuary, back to the car, a seal popped it’s head up and surprised us.
Then dived and came up quite a long we down stream. They can certainly travel fast under water.

Then on to Mersea Island where we are staying for two nights.
We have been here before but only for a few hours.
This time we are looking forward to exploring more.
It won’t matter that the island will be cut off from the mainland for an hour or so because of the high tide.

Now looking forward to watching Strictly the Results.
Thought last night’s show was excellent.
Then I think it will be an early night.

Extra of the beach huts on Mersea Island.
