Berlin

I'm back in my familar corner of Berlin for four days work at ZIB. Eating alone for once, since my PhD student is with a friend this evening.

The design of the green (and red) pedestrian lights in Berlin date from the time of the DDR, and when the wall fell they were due to be replaced, as everything synonymous with that era. But there was an affection for the characters which, ironically given their Socialist origins, are now widely used for merchandise.
