Stuart Memorial Hall Tempsford

Just up the road from us is Tempsford. It is split by the A1 trunk road and between Sandy and the notorious black cat roundabout you can see the Stuart Memorial Hall from the road. Well the main picture is the view of the rear of the hall. They have a museum and archive room within the hall and the first Sunday of the month open to the public. Today the prominent feature was Tempsford railway station which closed 1956. So we went along for a look, a cup of tea in the main hall and a jolly nice piece of cake.
Whilst enjoying our refreshments Callum said how unusual to have a balcony in a village hall. It transpires that the Stuart family who built the hall in memory of their son and the 14 other men from the village killed in the first world war built the balcony so they had exclusive use of it and could look down at the other villagers.
In the extra picture is Greg who attended the Mayor's civic service with his cadets today. On the right is his first sergeant from when he joined at age 13. He is now the CQMS and was representing the RBL.
