Marwick

I didn't really have time to look for a photograph today as I was volunteering with the RSPB. We started by removing some monbretia and pampas grass from a reserve. It wasn't much but both species are quite hard to dig out. Then we took down, for the winter, a small wind turbine which powers an electric fence needed to keep cattle from part of a reserve. We then headed down to Marwick where we took out two 'kissing-gates'. I imagine the RSPB doesn't approve of kissing. I'd walked through both of them often without wondering why they were there- the RSPB and local access officer at Orkney Islands Council both decided they were unnecessary and should come out.
