WI week - Part 1

This is the week for my two meetings. The first was tonight. We had a very interesting talk on the flu epidemic of 1918. It was called Spanish flu even though it got to Spain well after it was killing people in the trenches but nobody talked about it. And the spanish, not having much news, talked about it a lot. Apparently it got so bad in the USA that they had stopped drafting people into the forces and before the end of the war they had stopped shipping people ‘over here’.
Also people who had had the flu were more susceptible to other diseases such as tuberculosis. My grandfather died of tuberculosis contracted in the trenches??? Really serious flu epidemics happens approximately evert 100 years, so don’t forget to have a flu jab. My blip is showing the cake making skills of our members, to lighten a serious blip.
