Jebel Samhan

Terrific views from the Jebel Samhan viewpoint out to sea. This is the Dhofar region in southwest Oman, quite near the border with Yemen. It is still quite green from the Khareef season they have in June-August when the mountains attract rain and mist and the area becomes very green. The climate in this region is sub-tropical and the flora and fauna have as much in common with Africa as Asia. I've seen African paradise-flycatchers, Abyssinian white-eyes and African silverbills here as well as plenty of Eurasian birds.
