Life through my eyes

By Amanda_T

Welcome to the family!

We were up bright and early this morning and it was a gorgeous sunrise, misty at first but then the sun came up in such a bright ball of orange.

Mr. T's arthritis review had been scheduled for 15:50 on Christmas Eve, but last week we got a phone call offering a cancelation appointment for this morning which of course we were pleased to take.  In the school holidays the buses were very reliable but seem to have been less so in recent weeks so to be on the safe side we took a bus two buses earlier than we needed to!  Even at 08:05 it was already running late and by the time we got into Bristol it was 25 minutes late!  We had just enough time for a quick coffee in the hospital Costa Coffee.

We didn't have to wait long and the nurse came to take his basic measurements.  She was a lovely elderly caribbean nurse called Audrey with a wicked sense of humour and an infectious laugh.  Then another short wait before seeing the consultant.  He was very good, and confirmed the doctors diagnosis of palindromic inflammatory arthritis.  He thought the attack in August may have been exacerbated by Mr T having a cold, and as there have not been any other severe flare ups that there was no need for additional medication or that he is at risk of going on to developing rheumatoid arthritis.  Really good news.

On the way out Mr T spotted the alpacas and decided he needed something for my birthday, so Audrey the Alpaca has joined the family.  The nurse would no doubt have a laugh at that.

I had a voucher for a free meal from Beefeater as it is my birthday soon, so I picked a nice rump steak and chips (thinking that Mr T's cheaper meal would be the free one, but no, they applied it to my meal).  Both meals were lovely, and thankfully they were very good about allergies and checked everything for me.  Eating out worries me a bit at the moment.

Then we went to EE to get the Apple Watches sorted out as we have had such a nightmare with Vodafone that we have gone back to EE.  Last week, without even telling is Vodafone swapped our phone numbers, so I was at work and suddenly had Mr T's phone number and him mine!  Just as well we have no secrets!!  We had a very helpful young chap who knew exactly what to do as he had already done it for his own watch!
