A twitch

An unusual species of shrike has been lurking on Barra, the adjacent island, for ten days. Eventually today, we decided to go and see if we could see it.
Barra is very different to Uist and so it is always an interesting place to go. For those with an enquiring mind, it is an Isabelline Shrike which really should be in the Middle/Far east.
The best news was that the bird was still there, indeed in the same garden, and did perform well for a while.
With that pressure off, we enjoyed a potter around the island. Tricia brought some tapestry needles, we had a fish and chips lunch and then visited the plant nursery, a luxury we don't have on Uist. I hadn't thought of Barra as being a great provider of retail therapy, but it has helped today!
In the evening off to the local library to watch a film - A Walk in the Woods - in fact. OK but a trifle bitty was my informed opinion. It certainly has not persuaded me that walking the Appalachian Trial should be high on my list of priorities.
