Dumfries........

like so many towns looks better in the dark. Robert Burns spent the latter part of his life in Dumfries, where he died on 21st July 1796 following a period of illness after a dental extraction (or so one story goes. His drinking, womanising and possibility of venereal disease are 2 other and more plausible theories). I would at this point quote some Burns poetry, but this may result in an admission to the nearby Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary suffering from 3rd. degree Burns.

Suffice to say that, with his strong connection to my local area, you may be subjected to more of the Bard's life story in future blips.

Oh and that's Greyfriars Kirk behind him.
