Looking down the Avon Gorge

Went over to Bristol today for a walk with my buddies A and J. Lovely walk round Leigh Woods - this view is from the grotto at the extreme western point of the walk, looking the River Avon in the direction of Brunel's suspension bridge, which is just out of sight. The tree on the left is an ash, one of those currently vulnerable.

We changed out of our muddy trousers with some hilarity and had a late lunch at a place which used to be a greasy spoon café and is now a trendy but nevertheless very nice restaurant. We could see A's house up in Clifton from the restuarant - he lives in a landmark!

The downside of the day was the journey home - a drive that should have taken about an hour took nearly four! A lorry had overturned at a crucial junction, neccesitating a big detour. Thank goodness for local radio at such times, telling you what's going on. I missed my salsa and street dance classes, but no matter - I got home safely in the end.

Happy weekend, blippers, and I'll catch up with you all tomorrow.
