Architectural flower

I found this magnificent flower's seed head standing majestically in a friend's garden.  
The sun was shining on what looks like a fallen moon......and little aphids are on the flying 'fingers', hopefully avoiding the cobwebs. Could not see the spider, but guess he is there somewhere.
