Inspector Montalbano Meets His Match!

“The Scottish Polis are here to see you!”

“What?”

The Broons from the Scotland are here to see you!”

“On the run from the Scottish Polis more likely ………….. show them in!”

BANG!

“Sorry Dottore……………… Mrs B just exploded with excitement!”

 

There’s a couple of things you might not know;

The beautiful town of Scicli is used for several locations on the Italian TV series, Inspector Montalbano

Mrs B is quite possibly the world’s biggest Inspector Montalbano fan!

So during our Tour of Sicily, a visit to the Town Hall which acts as the front of the fictional Vigata Police Station was a must, especially when we found out that for a small fee you can have a tour of the Mayor’s office which acts as the Police Commissioner’s office in the series. Well we just had to and were duly ushered upstairs to see this very ornate room…………….. but things were about to get sooooo much better. 

By sheer luck, we had visited when the actual set of the Vigata Police station interior was still in place from the last filming. A “misunderstanding” meant that it had yet to be disassembled and shipped back to the RAI studios in Rome! 

Would we like to have a look around Inspector Montalbano’s Office as part of our tour???? 

Our lovely guide Enrico thought he was pretty clued up on all things Montalbano but he just hadn’t met Mrs B although he did divulge a few secrets about the set! 

“This office here belongs to………..” 

“Caterella!” 

And across the passageway is a minor character’s desk……..

“Galluzo!” 

“And that’s the door…….” 

“…….to Mimi’s Office” (settle C!)

“That one’s ……..”

“Fazio’s”

And here we have the office of the man himself Inspector Motalbano ………………………. Sorry madam you CANNOT sit in his chair!!!
