Steamy

G, M and I went to the Autumn Steam Gala today - always lovely to ride on the steam trains and particularly on the way out when we were on very old and beautifully restored articulated coaches (see Extra). They date from 1924 and were designed by Sir Nigel Gresley, who also designed The Mallard and The Flying Scotsman and the restoration cost nearly half a million pounds. Due to the dry Summer and the risk of fires from the steam trains, the gala was delayed and only had the home fleet running. It was still wonderful to see so many different engines continually operating, including the one above which doesn't often have an outing. I've also including another Extra of the token being passed at speed - absolutely vital to keep safe as the train can only run if it has the token - however it does look like an extreme version of pass the handbag!
