A novel experience

I always used to volunteer to sweep up leaves when I visited my parents.  Mostly hawthorn and sycamore, they would gather in great drifts on their driveway and patio, and crunching through them and smelling the boskiness of them as I swept, is a nice memory to have.

Up here there are seldom many colourful autumn leaves,  they tend to get blown off the trees when still green, or go very quickly to a brown/black sodden mush!  This year our climbing hydrangea has the most beautiful golden and yellow leaves and is shedding them with gay abandon!
