Who opened the gate?

A couple of friends came for lunch today. After lunch the chimp and I went out for a walk in the lovely autumn sunshine. The gate in this picture belongs to a house near to where we live. On our way out the gate was shut and the leaves were right up against the gate but when we came back it looked as if someone had slithered in through the gate - very curious
