at the 'Y'...

...this morning for M's kindy gym class and greeted by a sea of poppies.

I had no idea the YMCA introduced the wearing of the red poppy and had a fascinating conversation with Meg of Brisbane's Y' who co-ordinated the making of the poppies for the display to commemorate 100 years of red poppies.
Originally she said 'we hoped to have about 7000, one for every ten Australians who died during the first world war.' That was achieved within a couple of months! and now there are 91000 and counting,  one for every ANZAC who died and more.
They come in all shapes and forms.
Are spectacular.
And very beautiful (extra)
