Park Guell

This afternoon we went back to Park Guell and took a tour around the Monumental Zone, another of Gaudi's great architectural wonders in Barcelona. Built between 1900 & 1914, it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984; visitor numbers to the Monumental Zone are therefore restricted each day, which is why we didn't go in yesterday.
Stunning architecture, with much inspiration from nature, it is an amazing place to walk around.

Main photo is looking out through a window in the porter's lodge Casa del Guarda onto the Dragon Stairway and Greek Theatre (or Nature Square).

The first Extra [collage] also shows the Stairway and Greek Theatre, the Casa del Guarda (spot the blue room in the centre, from where the main photo was taken), and the other porter's lodge pavilion.

This morning we had a stroll along the seafront beaches - in the second Extra [collage] you can see a couple of the Olympics-themed sculptures along there - on top is Frank Gehry's Golden Fish, and below is Homage to Swimming' by Alfredo Lanz.
