Necropolis Abstract

We visited an archaeological goldmine today. The “Museu D. Diogo De Sousa” or Regional Archaeological Museum. Incredible artifacts from tiny to large, as this five foot tall necropolis. From centuries B.C. and well into the expanded Roman Empire when it was in Portugal.
Bracara Augusta was a city created by Emperor Augustus in 16 B.C., and this is my understanding of where Braga is today.

And if you like using the dictionary and have read this far, here is the necropolis scoop.
“From an archaeological viewpoint necropolises are very important to date the vestiges and to analyse the social distribution of the population in the city. Besides these aspects, funerary epigraphy provides information about anthroponomy, the origin and the social status of the dead.”

Well, that’s my Abstract contribution with the “Organic” theme tied in. Organic has a range of meanings but when I saw this I felt this was about as close as you can get to the whole ashes to ashes thing. In fact I looked that up also.
“'Ashes to ashes' derives from the English Burial Service. The text of that service is adapted from the Biblical text, Genesis 3:19 (King James Version): In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.”

Excuse my history lessons, but that place amazed me.
Thank you Ingeborg for hosting.
