The last day of Summer

There is always one day which, by common consensus, is the last day of Summer. Even if the following day is hot and sunny, people will wear warmer clothes in muted colours and talk of Halloween and Thanksgiving and Christmas.

The main purpose of this behaviour is to avoid the pain of a prolonged goodbye.
