'We are what we do.'

By Hasywell

I spoke too soon!

Not long after posting yesterday's blip I received a phone call to say one of my schools had flood water gushing through. After a very hairy drive, I arrived to find the caretaker and her husband and other members of the community trying locate and clear drains as well as redirect the water away from classroom doors. After smashing several drain covers we managed to start moving the water. However it was a torrent coming from the fields where it had burst through banks, into the playground and down the steps to the school building.

I have had to make the decision to close the school tomorrow due to further weather warnings of persistent and heavy rain tonight and tomorrow. The clear up will begin on Tuesday. The image is of our pond area which, as you see, is still flooded and won't cope with any more!

So have all fingers crossed that we get through the next few hours.

Three beautiful things:
A brief rainbow amongst the grey skies.

Community spirit

A warm shower

One thing to be grateful for:
The water didn't get into the classrooms.
