RHS Wisley

A last minute decision to go to RHS Wisley today seeing as it was another lovely sunny autumn day. A visit would also provide plenty of blip opportunities.

Always a high risk venture owing to the vagaries of the M25 and so it proved to be. Lots of slow moving traffic meant we arrived at 1.20pm instead of 12.50. I’d misread the closing times too. We were expecting the gardens to close at 6.00pm but it turned out that today was the first day of the winter closing time of 4.30pm - and on the first day of the half term break too.

There were hordes of people and thousands of children there too so the place was very busy and it is difficult to get off the beaten track with a wheelchair. Still, we had a pleasant couple of hours in the garden enjoying the sunshine and colours.

We were planning to eat out and travel back later when traffic on the M25 had eased but decided to risk an earlier return owing to the earlier than expected closure of the gardens. Much to our surprise, the M25 was relatively benign allowing us to get home much quicker than we went.

Doreen fancied fish and chips for tea, so I went out to get those and a couple of missing ingredients for our Scotch Broth. We sneaked a few of her chips though. There were plenty.
