Tour de l'Honneur, Lesparre-Medoc

This morning we set out for Lesparre under leaden skies and it was a cool 13 degrees C. After doing our shop at Carrefour the sun had finally come out and there was not a cloud in the sky to be seen.
I have been meaning to take a look at this nearby tower for a while, so took advantage of the excellent light.
Le Tour de l'Honneur is the only remaining part of the chateau de Lesparre. The tower was the main part of a four towers defensive structure, built in the 14th century. The castle was known as the "Château de l'honneur de Lesparre", so the only tower remaining today has been named "Tour de l'honneur". The original chateau must have been an impressive structure.
Today, the tower is a museum dedicated to local history, craft and traditions.

There is another shot in the extras.
