Thank You For the Days ..

Edinburgh Technopole and other Strange New Things

We set off this morning on a mission to buy a kitchen sink, tap and worktop for the flat. An hour in IKEA got it done and dusted.

I suggested to TM that since we were in that neck of the woods, we should go for a look at the developments at Easter Bush.  He spent part of his student days there, and I used to visit family who lived on the campus.  We knew there had been huge developments since then, but ...

We were not prepared for what we saw - we hardly recognised the place. So many new buildings, new departments - it would appear that the whole School of Veterinary Medicine is now there, plus a Forestry Research station, part of the Institute of Hydrology and Ecology, and lots more.  So many new and shiny buildings  some dedicated to subjects I've never heard of!

This sculpture is by Andy Scott, of Kelpies fame. It is called 'Canter'.  I guess the building behind is part of the Dick Vet. It has vertical plantings up panels in the walls, and some interesting windows. It was all very swish, and a bit overwhelming ...

We drove back into town and had a interesting walk from the Queens Park, via Meadowbank to Lochend Park and back. Then a very late lunch in Howe Street.

We were going to go to the cinema this evening, but couldn't find anything on that we both fancied, so it's feet up with a glass or two of red. Cheers!  Hope you are having a lovely Friday evening.
