faith and doubt

There is a Christian belief that "light should not be refused from any quarter", in other words, truth can come upon us from unexpected places. If we feel we know everything and have nothing to learn, we are arrogant. In Leaving Alexandria, Bishop Richard Holloway  said that the opposite of faith isn't doubt but rather certainty. True faith, whether religious or otherwise, grows in the search, in the encounter, in the journey. True faith embraces doubt.
