Portobello Beach Edinburgh Day 89

A stormy scene an hour after high water. The two oil tankers at anchor in the bay are Eagle Kangar and Eagle Klang from Singapore each displacing some 60000 tons and waiting the nod from Hound Point. The tankers queue up like taxis at a rank waiting for the cost of crude - their fare - to hit the right note I think?

The canyon effect on the beach - the subject of yesterday's blip - is worse today as the pump has run out of fuel and the promenade is awash. Some reports suggest it is flooded mine water out fall. Others say it is storm drains unable to cope. Some mutter darkly that it is contaminated with sewage and the beach at the end of Morton Street will have to be dug up. Conspiracies abound in Portobello.
