Boring

Everything seemed to be a disappointment after a week in San Francisco.

Sort of had Napa as a destination thinking the Napa Valley vineyards would be worth a visit. But somehow it didn't really materialise and we seemed to be in very boring countryside with lots of maize and run down farms some with seemingly a hundred horses that almost seemed to be skin and bones.

The highlight was in some town going into a country/agricultural type general store. Angie wanted to try out some boots and while waiting, one of the salesmen asked me if I needed anything. I answered a chair and a beer! A minute later both appeared!!

We found a motel a bit earlier than yesterday. It turned out to be a dreadful night, all the rooms around us packed with young people who had seemingly come out from the city for a night of drink, music & "fun". We hardly got any sleep despite the shouts from various people to keep quiet. We didn't dare open our door or say anything.

The next morning in reception, I stood next to a large black gentleman who laid into the motel manager. He said he, as a policeman himself, found it totally irresponsible that the manager didn't have sufficient security staff to stop such behaviour.
