This weekend we went camping near lake Georgetown. The water level in the lake was 15 feet higher than last month, because of all the rain. We decided to go for a bike ride into town for coffee, but it was challenging to get there. There were 3 areas that were closed off because of the high water level in the San Gabriel river. We crossed the first two by taking off our shoes and carrying our bikes across the water. The third area looked more challenging because of the current. It was also a little deeper than the other two. Fortunately an older man decided to walk across. We watched him as he got to the other side and decided if he could do it, we could do it.
We all got to the other side safely, but when we reached the last river crossing to get to town, we saw the bridge was damaged and there was no way to get across. No coffee for us! But we found a brewery close by, so we went there and had a beer.
