Swathes of Gold....

Maisie and I were out early this morning Here she is scampering along a narrow track in the early light. The golden effect is magnified by swathes of California Poppies. (Eschscholzia California). The bright orange flowers were still asleep with petals furled waiting for sunlight to awaken them. The poppies are a very common sight around Marlborough at this time of the year.
The weather has been patchy today with only the threat of rain. We are sorry that the weather was unkind over in Golden Bay in the Abel Tasman National Park. The popular Royals, Duke and Duchess of Sussex, visited Totaranui, a favourite place of mine, to learn of conservation initiatives in this special area. Mind you, that part of the world is lovely in any type of weather.
