Banchory

It was cold and had been wet in the morning and overnight. Our journey today took us to Falls of Feugh and the adjacent cafe for coffee, tea and a slice of cake.

Suitably refreshed, and seeing there seemed to be a hint of sunshine between the clouds, we went for a walk along the path next to the Dee. This takes us through this impressive gate. The building was formerly the gatehouse for Blackhall Castle. The manor house (I think it was more a house than a castle) was built in 1771 and demolished in 1946.

I have often thought this impressive gate was worth a photo, surprisingly as far as I can see nobody else seems to have posted it on Blip. I am sure it must be there somewhere. Well it is now!
