Teenage Kicks - 1991-1993

So we were off through west tonight for Mrs C's birthday present. One of our tip top bands, Teenage Fanclub, are touring the UK playing 4 venues for 3 nights, with each night covering several years of their recordings issued on Creation Records from 1991 - 2000. Although still releasing records, those are generally seen as their best years.

So we got the season ticket for the 3 nights and tonight's albums were Bandwagonesque and Thirteen. I think we joined them on their band wagon with Thirteen and worked our way back, and forward from there! They are playing 2 sets, an album in each in the order of the recordings.

The Teenage Fannies (as they are called!) came from a time in the Scottish music when loads of bands in the late eighties were formed and kept swapping or sharing band members with each other. While they have had 3 constant members, who unusually each write songs and sing them, there have been a few drummers and other musicians. However, on this tour the original drummers are back for the albums they played on. Tonight we had Brendon O'Hare, who was very funny chatting away, performed on both tonight's records then left with musical differences and joined Mogwai around 1995 for 2 years before being sacked by them for constantly chattering during shows...haha. He had a good laugh tonight :-)

Anyways... 3 nights at the same venue with the same band... not done that before... so rather than post 3 blips of the band as usual, I was happy to include some of the sights in the legendary Barrowland Ballroom, one of the best venues in the UK still looking very much like it did when it was rebuilt in the 1960s.

Tonight was great, we both really enjoyed it, but are looking even more forward to tomorrow night's albums which are our favs.
