Flaneur

By NickMog

Sketchy character

There’s a lack of depth and detail to her. If life is, as seems increasingly likely, just a simulation, then it surely can’t be worth the effort of adding a third dimension to all of those people in the background. She is the person ahead of you in the supermarket queue. The woman who rented the hotel room the week before you checked in. If you walk across the car park, stop her as she packs her shopping into her car and ask her what she’s doing, who she is, what are her dreams and plans... she will not answer you. She will say things but they will just be placeholders. She will try to turn the conversation to the weather or the referendum or any one of a number of subjects that are the equivalent of the extra in the crowd scene mumbling “rhubarb”.
