FRENCH MANDOLIN

This funny creature was built in Paris in1923.

Funny, because classical mandolins were almost exclusively built in Naples.

Funny also because this wee beastie has two soundboards -  if you look in the soundhole you can see where the principal one ends up!

Had to replace a few bits of the binding (the tulip wood which goes around the table) with French cherry wood. Can't seem to access tulip wood these days & the French cherry has a similar colour & hardness.

Also filled in a serious crack (top right) & closed a few splits in the (extra) bowl. Isn't it beautiful?
