Poppy Cascade

The folk of Great Bowden have hoisted their poppy cascade on the church tower. The knitters of the village and surrounding area answered the call early in the year and now the blood red streak of 4,000 hand knitted flowers is, of course, very poignant to see.

I like this photo. There is fragmented and scattered red, white and blue, the evergreen behind the tower as life goes on, the fall of the poppies for the fallen of the wars and, with it's own missing fallen leaves, the ghost shadow of the tree reaching out to touch the cascade. So many young lives lost.

And still we go to war.
